Tree Bee

On Friday November 18th over 140 grade 4 to 6 students participated in the 59th annual Tree Bee competition at Cardinal Newman Secondary School. The OFA was pleased to welcome 3 new schools to the competition where they were challenged to identify trees using slides and answer a series of conservation questions.

It was obvious to volunteers marking the tests that these students had spent hours honing their skills for this competition. Although there were many high scores on the tests top honours go to Holy Spirit School from Toronto who took home 1st place.

Next year this well rooted competition celebrates it's 60th anniversary! Stay tuned to learn more details about next years exciting event.

Although the Tree Bee only runs officially in the GTA, it can be brought to any community who is keen to take on the task. The OFA can provide your community with the CD to start your own Tree Bee Competition. If interested, contact the Education Programs Manager, Kristina Quinlan
