James S. Miller Memorial Scholarship

The James S. Miller Memorial Scholarship will be awarded annually to a student in their graduating year of high school in Northern Ontario, who intends to pursue post-secondary education in natural resources or a related field- a pursuit that Jim saw as so critical to present and future generations. Recipients will be from Northern Ontario- this part of the world held such a special place in Jim's heart, and where he spent his career making a difference. Demonstrated desire and commitement, not academic marks, will be the decisive factors in selecting recipients- a reflection of Jim's ability to sense the potential in others. For more information about the scholarship click here.

The scholarship fund is an open basket to be filled by those who share Jim's spirit of giving, his passion for the outdoors, his commitment to natural resources stewardship, and his belief in human potential. The first scholarship was awarded in 2009 in association with Algoma Envirothon, a youth program of which Jim was co-Chair. The OFA will administer the fund.

To apply for the scholarship, you must be a student in Northern Ontario who is in your final year of high school and intends to enter your first year of post-secondary education in natural resources or a related field commencing in the fall following their high school graduation. Deadline is February 28, 2012. To download the application form, click here.
