Congratulations to Shayna Hartley who won the 2012 OFA Photo Contest- "You and the Forest" with her submission of this beautiful long-eared owl! As the winner, she receives a Tree Canopy Walk pass for 2 and a night's accommodation at the Haliburton Forest and Wild Life Reserve!
"Fall photo of a snapping turtle making its way through our woodlot. Our 30 acre managed forest encircles a 5 acre protected wetland. We see wildlife at its best!"
The OFA is looking for any photos that tell a story of 'you and the forest'. Whether it be a photo in your woodlot, your neighbours', a local park, or a provincial park, we want a photo that tells a story. People can be in the photo, but if the subject is not the photographer, we require a release form indicating permission to use the photo with the subject in it.
We want you to get right to the root of the story. We also hope to use these photos in various social media outlets, therefore we want to keep the stories short and sweet.
You are only allowed to submit one photo and story per photographer. Additional entries are allowed, however the first entry submitted will only be eligible for the contest.
By entering the contest and submitting the release forms, you are granting the OFA the right to use the photos in publications and other communication materials. You may see your photo in our member newsletter (Our Forest), on our website, or in various print publications at shows.
The voting will take place at the OFA's 62nd Annual Conference on February 10th, 2012 at the Nottawasaga Inn, Alliston. The theme this year is "Learning from the Land" and will focus on topics that will reconnect you with the forest landscape. If you are interested in more details about the conference, click here.
